Original, matted and framed, The Star artwork from my Krystalline Kweens I tarot series, originally debuted at the Chocolate and Art Show in 2018.
This 8″x10″ pen and ink The Star portrait represents hope, faith, purpose, renewal, and spirituality. The Star shows a woman at the waters edge with a chalice representing the subconscious in her left and the conscious in her right. As she hovers slowly suspended, drawing the night sky, one chalice returns water to water rippling the waves of the subconscious mind, while the other pours onto the earth, creating new growth and channeling into 5 rivulets symbolizing the senses. In the background, a red ibis roosts in the tree of thought. A halo of azurite encircles her head and grow from her ears, while sodalite stones decorate her cape and gown. With her third-eye open, stars form at the end of each azurite point representing the core of one’s being surrounded by 7 chakras.
I chose my little sister, Jesseca Soper, to represent this card because she’s a psychedelic dream-child. She exists somewhere between waking and dreaming, radiating happiness wherever she goes. Always the optimist, it doesn’t matter what happens, she always faces the future with hope that everything will work out. From her wave of pure loving energy, she often sees the best in people and opens her heart to many. She loves taking care of people and making people laugh, showing vulnerability through humor. Like the Star, she grounds one foot in reality with her practical abilities and strengths and keeps the other in touch with her intuition, inner resources, and inner voice.
