I was feeling a bit down last week because *gestures wildly at the government*. Luckily, I’ve got friends like @lacedandfound (and his wonderful wife @socalgal213) who invited me to come out to @lift_atx and channel that emotion into something positive for the community for National Mental Health Awareness Month. @youarenotalonemurals is a public art project started by @dirtybandits and @sam_schutz to inspire and bring hope to those suffering with depression, suicidal ideation, or any kind of downswing in their mental health situation.

This was my first time assisting to paint someone else’s design. If you don’t know @lacedandfound, they do an insane amount of murals (well over 100 last year!!!) around the city and for private clients. And having the opportunity to paint with them, I got to experience first hand how they do it. We completed this 24’x8’ wall in around 3 hours, with Riki and I knocking out the fills and Jay coming through with the crispy, crispy line work. It was amazing to witness their process and coordination. Truly an inspiration! So grateful to have them as a part of Austin’s art community and as friends!! Thanks again x1000 for having me out!! 💖🥹💖

Also had so much fun getting to meet @dhinojosaaa, @tonitemp and @fotosgallegos and seeing the energy they put into this gym space! Thanks to y’all for the space to paint and to Los for capturing some cool footage.

35 solar spins. 1.25 hour self-portrait on Procreate! First time trying out the new overhead filming set up my love got me this morning. It’s been a wonderful day.

Shout out to all you badass femme folks out there that make me want to mess with what colors can be used as skin tone: @marcellaispainting constantly bending light and color around beautiful bodies, @sarahnilsonart blocking in chonk ass contrasts and making rough brush strokes look detailed, @vivalapainter laying down green hair highlights and vector layers this weekend, @coslawson with the natural highlights and shadow play, @artxsire constant vibrant palette twisting, @brittpaintsalot constantly killing portraits and capturing so many details, @itscandykuo blowin my mind when I noticed the hot pink nose highlights on that Leo piece this past weekend, @livelyvibesdesigns with that college-aged energy and loose figurative style that looks effortless but I know it isn’t, @pandabruja learning portraits with @batdog. Thank y’all and all my other friends (ALL OF YOU) for inspiring me to keep growing and learning.

A few months ago @dazed_and_painting sent me an RFP to paint the front of @vaaquarium . It would be dream project for me, but I haven’t had the best luck with RFPs in the past. I generally don’t do spec work without a deposit and spent a while just letting my imposter syndrome get the best of me too much to even start. Then a couple of weeks ago I was reminder of the deadline through my to-do list and had one of those, “But what if I tried as hard as I possibly could and just see what happens?” moments. Maybe it’ll end in the heartbreak I am bracing myself for, but what if it doesn’t? As they say in sportsball, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
.
Anyways, here’s something beautiful and something cute; both somethings I really hope to enchant @vabeacharts into letting me paint the front of the aquarium. I even made some mock-ups of what it would look like from the street since that was mentioned in the request! If y’all could just put every positive vibe out into the universe that I won’t just be celebrating my 35th birthday, but also my first major city art gig next week, I would be beyond grateful.

Spent my Sunday painting with a bunch of icons at the @almostrealthings HQ. I forgot to get a pic of @abeltodesign painting bc we were too busy lulzin and painting next to each other, but I caught everyone else!! Also got to meet cool new peeps and see some other pals who stopped by the jam.

This frog was from one of the concepts I did for a proposal to paint the front of @vaaquarium . I’ll (probably) share those soon, but I am still waffling on it. But please put the best vibes out there regardless. I’ve got painting activities next weekend and a big @creativecutiesatx collab at the end of the month (deets to come), so you could say painting season has arrived.
