Okay time for some catch up. @sheunitpaintjam was such a beautiful experience. There were many talks throughout the weekend of art as culture, art as resistance, and art as self-care. Big ups to @l.rhae for helping with design feedback and to both her and @universalstyleschool for on-site critiques on my lettering piece! It was a first of I’m sure many to come writing Frawg. @raytrillharvey and @kryslachapis did an amazing job running the event. @sage_medicine brought out some amazing tunes and @nikita.theartist gave me wonderful henna.

My piece was a celebration of thick, soft bodies resting in confidence. 🚨 TW: diet culture & DE 🚨 I keep feeling the push of early 2000s trend setting coming to the cultural forefront (media, ads, conversationally), clawing to undo all the strides made by the body positivity movement over the past several years. As someone who suffered from disordered eating throughout middle and high school, and even a bit into college, (mostly from lack of information, general trauma, and encouragement to follow unhealthy and super unsustainable diet trends) it’s been a very long journey for me to get to a space where I can appreciate my body. And damn do I have a lot to appreciate it for after this past month. I spent about 12 consecutive days (plus a 4 others) climbing a 12-15ft ladder (depending on how extended I had it) in the Texas sun. My arms are able to create art on a larger scale than I ever could have imagined, but we’ll go even bigger. I went straight from this event into a GIGANTIC production with the @ftkatx crew! More on that very soon (trust I have the reel ready in the drafts)…

Awesome seeing my aunt @imalleyes and uncle and cousin @ben_leary1997 out today at the jam because alignment was such that we were all in Dallas at the same time. Today was full of amazing jams and dancing with friends and seeing phenomenal art come to life as hours passed and butterfly-licked henna. Thank you to everyone who bought some of my merch today!! It helps me re-coup some costs for doing something that brings me so much happiness. I wish I could bottle this feeling for a rainy day.

Better not edit my silly camping vacation clips from @inkslakesp earlier this week to look like a Wes Anderson film. I apologize in advance because, as the cringey hipster scum I am… I love a Wes Anderson movie and I will likely be using this editing trend a couple more times because UH IT’S CUTE. Lil Phathead had a surgery before camping trip so now their left leg, neck, and arm are no longer broken and they can now be posed again! Finally finished up this mural out at my parents’ place this week!! 275sqft entirely in aerosol on corrugated metal on a high ladder in hill country winds. Big challenges, but super happy with how everything came together.

This mural features a scissor tail flycatcher soaring over a pond at sunset bordered by bluebonnets, daisies, thistle, and prickly pear. Recently had the privilege of working on this skateboard commission for local collector @richardrees2!! I improved upon my Space Whale street art from @eltacorrido for this smaller format, painted in aerosol, paint markers, and acrylic paints.

It was my first time designing a skateboard and I came up with a bunch of concepts and it was really fun. Super grateful to have people like Richard in the arts community who support us living our dreams through commissioning custom works!

Had a wonderful day with free coffee, birdwatching, nature walks, and dinner at @daidue with my love, my seester @derpsicles and her bf @alligotrmybones. I touched grass on my nature walk and then touched my eye, which my allergies did not like very much, but that’s happened enough times in my existence that I just kind of live with it. 😂 Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!!
