Day 1 of @deardiary_coffee x @creativecutiesatx EAST Market Days in the books!! The community paint wall was so much fun and I loved seeing so many people excited to learn about spray paints. Started some of my holiday shoppin and received this on-demand poem that almost made me cry from @violet__vela when I paid her to write me something about the market. @kismetscreation absolutely killed it on her live painting piece!

I’ve got gallery shows opening across the east side starting tomorrow night and a big ole market this weekend and next, where I’m hosting a community mural wall where anyone can come play and learn with spray paints!

@treegarden x @builtbymasonry Life of H2O is opening and I have two pieces you ABSOLUTELY need to see in person. That whale is the most beautiful thing I have ever made in my life. Don’t just look at this tiny internet version. Best viewed with your face literal inches from the canvas surface. My salamander baby is cute too, but I didn’t redevelop that concept multiple different times this year like the whale.

A lil ambience video of my time at the @astronoxevents Arts & Music Gathering 2022!! They packed so much talent into those woods. so many amazing artists, performers, VJs and DJs traveled from across the state and country to be a part of it. The more I found out how far people traveled to be there, the more grateful I was to have had the opportunity to participate as a local. It was amazing seeing everyone’s work unfold over the course of the weekend. And OMG such mesmerizing projection mapping from all the VJs. I left feeling truly inspired and wanting to experiment with light dynamics in my own work!

What a fkn EXPERIENCE. I’d never been to a camp-out festival before and didn’t really know what to expect, but was blown away by the production skills, talent, and kindness displayed by the organizers, attendees, and all participants in @astronoxevents fest!! I have some clips I’ll be trying to get together as a reel and have some other pics (and loot hauls) to shoutout some of the amazing people and creators I met at the fest, but first here’s my art!

First pic is my favorite piece, which I did on Saturday. I hadn’t done a portrait in spray for at least a couple of years so I wanted to try it out again. Everyone around the fest had little sprout clips in their hair and on their headgear so I, of course, had to pull that into the concept. Astronaut Frog was my second favorite and my Friday night piece. Sunday I had some little helpers (Nuova, daughter of @jordysworldxoxo and her friend, Athena) who helped me add some cute tags to my Plant-type Whale concept. When I showed up Thursday, got my camp set up, and got my wall panel from Chance, I threw up a quick little set of 5-color faerie wings to prime the board before the big events! The gallery was STUNNING and my Hypnotoad-inspired piece, All Glory, got a ton of love and was the first sale of the gallery (before they even got the labels up!!!) I brought my needle felt alien cutie, Lil Fathead, to help me manage my vendor table and they made some friends, too.

Each morning I dragged my paint wagon to the wall panel with barely a fragment of an idea in mind and pretty much made a split minute decision on what I was doing by the time I got there, sat on the ground, and did like a 10-15 minute sketch of what I was thinking and then got right down to painting. It was the least amount of pre-planning I have ever done so the fact that I got some really solid pieces out of it is still kind of blowing my mind. Something about the vibes and inspiration all over that space made the thoughts just FLOW! Will be sharing more of the work soon… hopefully. I’ve been really lax about posting lately because we booked and busy around here.

I had so much fun last Saturday at the Art Duel at the @texasartsmusicfestival !! So great to spend the day with friends and paint together.

My little sunflower cowpoke (second pic) won the first round 1v1 against @tvheadatx. The final round went to @inkcolor in first place and @tvheadatx in second. Amazing work all around including sick pieces by @artxsire, @ulys_gold, and @uloang. We only had an hour in the first round and an an hour and fifteen for the second to paint an 8ft x 8ft wall! 😮‍💨 Thanks to @somethingcoolstudios and @texasartsmusicfestival for having us out!!

FROGCON IS GOING ON NOW THRU THE 23RD!! 10 CutieToonz commission slots are open and new original work has been listed on the site, including a bunch of collabs with my grandmother, Nanny’s Creations. 10% of all proceeds throughout the con will support @thetrailconservancy for their wetland rehabilitation efforts along Austin’s downtown waterways.

If you’ve ever wanted original work from me, now is the time. Last time I opened CutieToonz commissions was like Feb 2021 and the demand was a bit overwhelming so I took a little break from that. But once again I am offering my small portraits, this time frog-flavored. And on the lower cost end: mini-canvas originals! And stickers, pins, keychains and a postcard.

Wowee wow wow what a fun night!! Participated in my first ever @beatsessionsatx 2v2 battle on Monday night, with my amazing paint bud @artxsire, against the reigning champs @itscandykuo & @kimieflores.

It was a close one! We lost by a mere $11 against two absolute legends in the industry AND the MC said it was also the first all-female 2v2 battle in Beat Sessions history, so I still feel like a winner.
.
We painted a whole 12’x8’ wall in an hour and a half, and literally 50mins in, I looked at Sire and we were like, “ok but what’s left? Cutbacks and clean-up?” Seriously, best speed painting partner to have by my side! Also, having my best pals and their partners out to cheer me on was the cherry on top of an all around beautiful evening. 🥰

In total, this piece took somewhere around 15-16 hours, most of which I livestreamed. I started with spray paints for the background and some foreground colors. Then I painted the piece using acrylics on most of it and Posca markers for the sacred geometry line work in the background.
