80 minute scrap can jammer in my backyard that I started at 12:17pm with the solar eclipse!! Our dear friend and neighbor @avgpapi and @thesmallshiba came over to watch in our yard. It was magical moments.

I’ve been having lots of fun playing with letters and it’s neat to be in a place with my can control that I did not think I’d get to. I always thought I’d get to a place where my can control could somewhat replicate my marker illustration style with spray… I never thought I’d be able to pull a line well enough to translate my graphic design style into spray. I’m sure I’ll look back at this in a year and be like “bitch, you thought that was can control????”

Hella fun times at @spraycitywalls painting with @raytrillharvey last Friday!! For the All-Ladies Transit Takeover, they painted the wall like a subway so I did a piece honoring the history of Subway Art (@marthacoopergram x @henrychalfant ) with some funky letters, old school textures, and my take on a @vaughnbodeofficial lizard character in the arms of the biggest Lil Phathead. It was so cool getting to collab with Trill on the fly to tie our pieces together.

Words are still escaping me. Prolly because I just spent 9 days doing hella physical, creative labor often from 10am until the sun went down. And I just get overstimulated when I think about the fact that it actually happened and we really popped off like that and imagining me taking baby me through it like “look at this future you’ll be living one day” and ffs all the thanks I have to give to everyone involved. It still feels like I am imagining it.
.
I am so honored to have played such a large role in the creation of this production with my @ftkatx crew sis @l.rhae. Thank you again for doing everything you did in advocating for space and creative freedom and handling all the peopling aspects that tend to overwhelm me. This was a dream for both of us, which kept this project driving forward. We’d been planning this since at least October, staying true to the vision of a fantasy-themed graffiti production from the jump. The more things fell into place the more momentum was behind the movement. We spent all last week with the help of @k4rm_44 color-blocking the background for everyone to arrive on Friday. THEY SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT! Women writers from across Texas converged over the weekend and just really did the damn thing.

Highlight of this year: I traveled to @paintlouisofficial with amazing support from my friends and community. I traveled to 5 different cities to paint! Joined @ftkatx crew and did a production with them at Native. I painted at @aclfestival which has been on my paint bucket list for a while. I was on @itsagreatdaysa live painting and sharing painting tips. I was hired to live paint for @adidasrunning and @dulcevidatequila . I was part of @sheunitpaintjam, Essex Paint Jam, and the first all-female @beatsessions.tx in Houston. Got a sponsored paint sprayer from @wagnerspraytech . Taught a class at @doughertyartscenter and so many other cool things…

The third evolution of Space Whale and a interactive experience dream made real. Astronox is such a beautiful space of top-tier artistic skill and creative cohabitation and tasty bass and neurodivergent unmasking. Just artsy weirdos creating an alternate dimension together. It’s so neat to turn around and see the backs of a bunch of canvases on easels pointed your direction and just knowing so many people are creating in unison… it’s like the Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte, but everyone is working on their chosen art form.

Drive-in movie theater residential mural! It’s incredibly flattering when a client decides to completely alter their bedroom setup to better complement a mural you designed for them.

Original install took place over 5 days at the end of September, but then I went back yesterday for touch ups because they removed a shelf, rewired the TV, and covered three outlets to make the entire wall more immersive. Time lapse from the first round is up on YouTube (linked in the bio)!

Done entirely in @montana_colors water-based aerosols (with some minor brush work) with help from the @krewline stencil cap and the @bombingsci ultra-skinny mosquito cap. Color palette was inspired by three original @kerry_awn paintings they had up over their headboard. Big thanks again to @bobdipasquale and Brette for trusting me with this project, to Guido and Dory (the sweet pups) for trusting me in their home in exchange for some pets, and to Bob for all the lunches!

I wish I could go back in time and meet up with myself at the beginning of my pre-teen angst and be like “Yo, one day you’ll get to see @alanis for free at something like Jazz Fest because you’re hired to spray paint a big, super cute animal character you made up.” Seeing all the little dudes (nb) losing their mind over my character and people posing like them to get pics and meeting all the people who have salamander/axolotl pets and work in the aquatic sciences fields and just having people get excited about a lil guy I made up and people INTENTIONALLY GOING OUT TO COLLECT CANS TO GET MY SHIRT DESIGN AND THEN SHOWING ME ONCE THEY SECURED THE LOOT. 🥹🥹🥹

20 years ago we lost a friend. I can’t fly on a $20 years ago we lost a friend. I can’t fly on a plane or listen to music I love or see a crystal or set up a campsite or dabble in 3D rendering without thinking of you. Every boy in pink echos your existence. I wonder who you would have become. Why you gravitated to the handful of us who toed and later stepped over genderqueer lines and what that may have looked like for you today. How the military may have changed you. Whether you’d still do art and design. Whether life after graduation have been just as confusing and chaotic for you as it was for all of us. I once chose returning to an abuser over you and still wish I’d never brought that pain to you. I can’t change the past, but I’ve learned to only let in those who are sweet and supportive, like you were. Trauma bonds are grounds for stupid decisions, but I’m sure you already knew that. I’ve learned to live softer and gentler with myself. Chase happiness and that dream life like any day could be my last day. I thought I was doing that after your passing, but it actually took me years to pull myself out of so many self-destructive behaviors brought on by depression, guilt, and shame. You’ve been a memory for longer than you were ever alive, which feels weird… and sad… but in a bittersweet kind of way. You made such an impact on us all. Your half-smirk, your curiosity about the world, your love of music and nature and educating, your kindness and creativity. You were the diamond the whole time. When you left, a fractal of shards broke off into so many of our hearts to shine eternally. We miss you, Bubba. 💞💎🌹 8️⃣3️⃣1️⃣$

Happy Labor Day!! 🇺🇸 It was a beautiful (HOT 🥵) weekend out at @paintlouisofficial 2023 putting up this tugboat frawg piece, dedicated to my pup. This character is based on the Missouri-native northern crawfish frog. Like Pup when I was growing up in New Orleans, this frog is a tugboat maintenance engineer, making sure the two-spotted bumblebee’s canal fleet is operating at its finest! Felt appropriate to highlight the hard working folks who are integral to keeping our supply chains running for this big Labor Day event. I’ve already learned a bunch and we’re only like half was through the day. More videos to come! Send me those good vibes that the all-terrain scissor lift with outriggers is going to work because my spot is one of the few INCREDIBLY unlevel gravel bed spots. It’s going to add some sick texture to the crashing through the wall look of the piece, but I am currently without height because they had to run the other lift back. 😂

I’ve been having lots of fun playing with letters and it’s neat to be in a place with my can control that I did not think I’d get to. I always thought I’d get to a place where my can control could somewhat replicate my marker illustration style with spray… I never thought I’d be able to pull a line well enough to translate my graphic design style into spray. I’m sure I’ll look back at this in a year and be like “bitch, you thought that was can control????”

Hella fun times at @spraycitywalls painting with @raytrillharvey last Friday!! For the All-Ladies Transit Takeover, they painted the wall like a subway so I did a piece honoring the history of Subway Art (@marthacoopergram x @henrychalfant ) with some funky letters, old school textures, and my take on a @vaughnbodeofficial lizard character in the arms of the biggest Lil Phathead. It was so cool getting to collab with Trill on the fly to tie our pieces together.

Words are still escaping me. Prolly because I just spent 9 days doing hella physical, creative labor often from 10am until the sun went down. And I just get overstimulated when I think about the fact that it actually happened and we really popped off like that and imagining me taking baby me through it like “look at this future you’ll be living one day” and ffs all the thanks I have to give to everyone involved. It still feels like I am imagining it.
.
I am so honored to have played such a large role in the creation of this production with my @ftkatx crew sis @l.rhae. Thank you again for doing everything you did in advocating for space and creative freedom and handling all the peopling aspects that tend to overwhelm me. This was a dream for both of us, which kept this project driving forward. We’d been planning this since at least October, staying true to the vision of a fantasy-themed graffiti production from the jump. The more things fell into place the more momentum was behind the movement. We spent all last week with the help of @k4rm_44 color-blocking the background for everyone to arrive on Friday. THEY SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT! Women writers from across Texas converged over the weekend and just really did the damn thing.

Highlight of this year: I traveled to @paintlouisofficial with amazing support from my friends and community. I traveled to 5 different cities to paint! Joined @ftkatx crew and did a production with them at Native. I painted at @aclfestival which has been on my paint bucket list for a while. I was on @itsagreatdaysa live painting and sharing painting tips. I was hired to live paint for @adidasrunning and @dulcevidatequila . I was part of @sheunitpaintjam, Essex Paint Jam, and the first all-female @beatsessions.tx in Houston. Got a sponsored paint sprayer from @wagnerspraytech . The third evolution of Space Whale and a interactive experience dream made real. Astronox is such a beautiful space of top-tier artistic skill and creative cohabitation and tasty bass and neurodivergent unmasking. Just artsy weirdos creating an alternate dimension together. It’s so neat to turn around and see the backs of a bunch of canvases on easels pointed your direction and just knowing so many people are creating in unison… it’s like the Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte, but everyone is working on their chosen art form.

Drive-in movie theater residential mural! It’s incredibly flattering when a client decides to completely alter their bedroom setup to better complement a mural you designed for them.

Original install took place over 5 days at the end of September, but then I went back yesterday for touch ups because they removed a shelf, rewired the TV, and covered three outlets to make the entire wall more immersive. Time lapse from the first round is up on YouTube (linked in the bio)!

Done entirely in @montana_colors water-based aerosols (with some minor brush work) with help from the @krewline stencil cap and the @bombingsci ultra-skinny mosquito cap. Color palette was inspired by three original @kerry_awn paintings they had up over their headboard. Big thanks again to @bobdipasquale and Brette for trusting me with this project, to Guido and Dory (the sweet pups) for trusting me in their home in exchange for some pets, and to Bob for all the lunches!

I wish I could go back in time and meet up with myself at the beginning of my pre-teen angst and be like “Yo, one day you’ll get to see @alanis for free at something like Jazz Fest because you’re hired to spray paint a big, super cute animal character you made up.” Seeing all the little dudes (nb) losing their mind over my character and people posing like them to get pics and meeting all the people who have salamander/axolotl pets and work in the aquatic sciences fields and just having people get excited about a lil guy I made up and people INTENTIONALLY GOING OUT TO COLLECT CANS TO GET MY SHIRT DESIGN AND THEN SHOWING ME ONCE THEY SECURED THE LOOT. 🥹🥹🥹

I can’t fly on a plane or listen to music I love or see a crystal or set up a campsite or dabble in 3D rendering without thinking of you. Every boy in pink echos your existence. I wonder who you would have become. Why you gravitated to the handful of us who toed and later stepped over genderqueer lines and what that may have looked like for you today. How the military may have changed you. Whether you’d still do art and design. Whether life after graduation have been just as confusing and chaotic for you as it was for all of us. I once chose returning to an abuser over you and still wish I’d never brought that pain to you. I can’t change the past, but I’ve learned to only let in those who are sweet and supportive, like you were. Trauma bonds are grounds for stupid decisions, but I’m sure you already knew that. I’ve learned to live softer and gentler with myself. Chase happiness and that dream life like any day could be my last day. I thought I was doing that after your passing, but it actually took me years to pull myself out of so many self-destructive behaviors brought on by depression, guilt, and shame. You’ve been a memory for longer than you were ever alive, which feels weird… and sad… but in a bittersweet kind of way. You made such an impact on us all. Your half-smirk, your curiosity about the world, your love of music and nature and educating, your kindness and creativity. You were the diamond the whole time. When you left, a fractal of shards broke off into so many of our hearts to shine eternally. We miss you, Bubba. 💞💎🌹 8️⃣3️⃣1️⃣$

Happy Labor Day!! 🇺🇸 It was a beautiful (HOT 🥵) weekend out at @paintlouisofficial 2023 putting up this tugboat frawg piece, dedicated to my pup. This character is based on the Missouri-native northern crawfish frog. Like Pup when I was growing up in New Orleans, this frog is a tugboat maintenance engineer, making sure the two-spotted bumblebee’s canal fleet is operating at its finest! Felt appropriate to highlight the hard working folks who are integral to keeping our supply chains running for this big Labor Day event. Thanks to @57crunch for sharing your years of graff wisdom with me. Thanks to @befireflow for inviting me to sit in his AC when I was on the verge of overheating. It was fun getting to put up all my @ftkatx krewmates’ throwies and get some practice with different letterstyles. I was so happy hearing @yatusabes.crew and @raytrillharvey yelling at me from the road every time they cruised past. And Lil Phathead was always there to make me feel a little less alone on my adventures.

I’ve already learned a bunch and we’re only like half was through the day. More videos to come! Send me those good vibes that the all-terrain scissor lift with outriggers is going to work because my spot is one of the few INCREDIBLY unlevel gravel bed spots. It’s going to add some sick texture to the crashing through the wall look of the piece, but I am currently without height because they had to run the other lift back. 😂
