This hand-decoupaged matchbox features The High Priestess artwork from my Krystalline Kweens I tarot series.
A print of the original pen and ink tarot card illustration covers the front of the box, representing intuition, sacred knowledge, divine feminine, and the subconscious mind. The high priestess sits in front of a pomegranate-patterned veil, reflecting Persephone and matching the Empress’s gown, symbolizing abundance and the divine feminine. This veil provides a shield between the conscious and unconscious, keeping the uninitiated at bay. Selenite and obsidian pillars stand in juxtaposition beside her, marked with B (Boaz) and J (Jachin), creating an entrance to this sacred space. Knowledge and acceptance of the duality of darkness and light are required to enter this mystical temple. The triple moon is reflected in her elfin ears and aquamarine crown, as well as the labradorite symbol centered on her third eye, symbolizing her divine knowledge. She sits on a crescent moon with sacred book and orbuculum in hand, connecting her to the divine feminine, her intuition, the subconscious mind, and the natural cycles of the moon. The back side is covered with gold foiling and approximately 18 wooden matches are contained within.
