Ran away to San Antonio for the weekend and painted a giant portrait of @bjork , which was basically going back in time and giving my younger self a little kiss on the forehead. The little me who wondered why she was born so strange. Why she yearned for something so impractical as what I am doing today. Who saw Kristi Yamaguchi skate to It’s Oh So Quiet and immediately went and bought her first CD, Post, which started a life long love of Bjork’s music. Music that continued to be the soundtrack to so many moments in my life, speaking directly to my weird little heart and my weird little feelings.

Between using my printed reference and listening to the entire Bjork casette tape collection my sister @derpsicles gifted me on the tape deck that my partner gifted me, I focused on having a very analog experience. Unplugging from the very triggering news cycle (as a survivor of restrained assault, coercion, narcissistic manipulation, and men taking advantage of me while unconscious, this shit ain’t cute). We focused on the positive present. Spending time enjoying family style meals with the @ftkatx crew at our AirBnB. Making sure my homies were fed and watered. Laughing with and gassing up the other amazing local lady artists. Chatting and sharing stickers with the community who came out.

Anyways, you won’t find me on some “Artists, it’s our time to get to work” type shih. It’s not the artists’ job to fix this. Most of us already have multiple jobs and are scraping to afford to live. Struggling does not create better art, safety and security does. Over half the country chose for things to get way worse for most of us, unless of course you’re in the billionaire class. And even if you’re in the billionaire class, an uninhabitable planet is still uninhabitable.

Valkyrie Dawn, sibling to Wisteria Moon, was the cosmic creature I summoned for Astronox this year!! @astronoxevents is always such a magical experience. I get inspired creating around so many other insanely skilled artists in attendance, reconnect with festival goers who’ve been in past years, and connect with many friendly loving new people (and Phantoes the cat who I only got video of). Bruh, I got to see Juno Reactor… twice. Younger me was… I don’t even know how to describe what this was like for my younger self, but it was frikkin cool.

Quick 2-day portal opening at @lustre_pearl_east last Friday and Saturday. I call this piece Wisteria Moon, inspired by our local springs and Texas native plants (wisteria, juniper, lantana, fanwort). The moon was done in the same tones I’d use to color a pearl because what is a moon if not an illustrious pearl in the sky. Honestly, this is the first time I had the chance to paint virgin cinderblock and I was stoked on the opportunity to do a breakthrough wall, so I wanted to do something that spoke to my prettier, more surreal art style. Bringing the peaceful, mystical vibes to the patio peeps.

Endlessly grateful to have opportunities to get up on big walls with my @ftkatx ladies. Here’s the time lapse from our most recent prodo at @paintlouisofficial !! I’ll have the extended video + festival recap up on YouTube later this week.

This Greek mythology production was led by @taylordpaints ! Again on the wall we had @winkstyles001 @l.rhae @taylordpaints @k4rm_44 and meeee!!! It was a 60+ft long by 16ft high wall that we spent three days painting (plus an hour and a half getting our base coat down on Thursday).
.
Had some really fun memories again at @paintlouisofficial this year. Unfortunately, we were so busy that I didn’t have as much time this year to check out the other parts of the wall! Being up on that ladder for such an extended time really wrecked my legs/ankles/feet up and it took almost a full week for the swelling to return to normal, so walking around in between painting wasn’t really an option. I am so proud of all these hard working ladies and what we did together!!

What a whirlwind weekend with my @ftkatx homies out at @paintlouisofficial !! We put up this amazing Ancient Greece themed production! It was a lot of hard work but I am so proud of us: @k4rm_44 @taylordpaints @l.rhae @winkstyles001 !! It’s so cool to have friends who are down to travel across state lines to absolutely bust our asses for three days in the heat to create something amazing together!! It was super fun getting to caravan and make smol mischiefs on our way up with @k4rm_44 and @eye_loves_you .

My centaur character was based off the centaurs in Fantasia, but done in my style. This was a movie that my sister and I loved growing up so it felt appropriate for this Ancient Greece themed production. I also designed the @ftkatx column with @taylordpaints help on color matching to tie it in.

You know I’ve got the whole thing on time lapse, too!! I am just super exhausted and need to catch up on my other work, but you’ll see that in a few days.

Portals to Queer Oasis Frawg piece. 🌈 Created these idyllic skyboxes based on the colors of the trans, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and non-binary flags for each letter coming together to fit the rainbow theme of all the new pieces on the @topdrawerthriftaustin fence. Bricks also have an important place in pride month history and match the exterior mural at Top Drawer (painted by @hardshapes ).

Big thanks to @l.rhae for organizing this amazing pride-themed jam and getting the @ftkatx crew and homies together to give back to a business that gives so much to the queer community!! Not to mention, with where my headspace has been lately, it was really nice to catch up with everyone and work through some of those feelings on the wall. Remind myself that I am skilled, creative, and worthy in what I do. That I’m not just pretending to be something, that I am on my way there.

New headshots launching soon from the gorgeous and amazing @dirtandglittermt / @denalireese . Just got the final gallery yesterday. 🤩 I haven’t gotten new promo shots in 3 years and I’m so excited to start updating everything once I figure out which ones I am picking!! (It’s hard with how good they all are!!)

She sent me so many shots to choose from, sent phone video clips and photos, set up and coordinated all the props on set, and had her friend @girl_in_the_docsphotography come out to be the second shooter (who also got some phenomenal shots). So much bang for my buck! It was honestly so affordable and I couldn’t recommend her studio more. So serendipitous to have met her back when she lived in Austin and remained friends with her for years as we both grew our small businesses!

We had so, so much fun together during the shoot and with @massagebykristenatx when she came out. I love being around women lifting each other up and putting each other on. We all thrive together!! Big, big thanks to @delilahsfrontporch for letting us take over your space and to Joe and Steven for helping move furniture around to make the set extra cute. So much love for y’all.

Did you hear? 🐸🧺 Fresh Frogs’ Taco Picnic just dropped at @eltacorrido !!

This was a pride month concept that I painted at this same spot three years ago, which I resurrected a couple of weekends ago. Shoutout to the person who drove by telling me they reminded them of Frog and Toad and asking if they were lesbians before I even added the flower crown. I love frogs because they are great androgynous characters, a theme close to my own heart. The perceived gender of many of my characters is entirely up to the interpretation of the viewer. They are putting on native species on display with a spotted chorus frog and green tree frog amongst fire wheels!
.
When I first painted this concept, I didn’t have the can control to outline it, my perspective and texturing skills weren’t as solid, and dang it these ones just turned out so much cuter. Following that first iteration, the last frog characters I did here were a couple of presh lil strawberry poison dart frogs based off me and @l.rhae and they rode for a solid couple of years. They were cute, but small and I still wasn’t ready for the line work at that point. I’m happy with my latest addition to this wall and proud of how much I’ve grown painting in this space since 2020.
.
I also wasn’t throwing letters last time I painted here. I felt like I was taking up too much space… but it was the same amount of space as the person before me, and I wasn’t going to leave my characters half over someone’s piece like that so why not just put a lil piece up? Okay I know it’s a sickness… I can’t stop writing Frawg on shit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s been a big year and I’ve done a lot of work since my finalist run last year. Grateful for all the adventures with the @ftkatx crew and beyond that I’ve experienced so far. I love this life and I am so grateful to be able to create joy for people across the state and outside of it through my artwork.

Again this year I am up against some truly phenomenal talent including the amazing 3rd year champ @zuzubee, @rexhamiltonart, @_esquivel and @jiminai who all deserve a win, but, as I said last year, this is my page so VOTE FOR MEEEE. Ran away to San Antonio for the weekend and painted a giant portrait of @bjork , which was basically going back in time and giving my younger self a little kiss on the forehead. The little me who wondered why she was born so strange. Why she yearned for something so impractical as what I am doing today. Who saw Kristi Yamaguchi skate to It’s Oh So Quiet and immediately went and bought her first CD, Post, which started a life long love of Bjork’s music. Music that continued to be the soundtrack to so many moments in my life, speaking directly to my weird little heart and my weird little feelings.

Between using my printed reference and listening to the entire Bjork casette tape collection my sister @derpsicles gifted me on the tape deck that my partner gifted me, I focused on having a very analog experience. Unplugging from the very triggering news cycle (as a survivor of restrained assault, coercion, narcissistic manipulation, and men taking advantage of me while unconscious, this shit ain’t cute). We focused on the positive present. Spending time enjoying family style meals with the @ftkatx crew at our AirBnB. Making sure my homies were fed and watered. Laughing with and gassing up the other amazing local lady artists. Chatting and sharing stickers with the community who came out.

Anyways, you won’t find me on some “Artists, it’s our time to get to work” type shih. It’s not the artists’ job to fix this. Most of us already have multiple jobs and are scraping to afford to live. Struggling does not create better art, safety and security does. Over half the country chose for things to get way worse for most of us, unless of course you’re in the billionaire class. And even if you’re in the billionaire class, an uninhabitable planet is still uninhabitable.

Valkyrie Dawn, sibling to Wisteria Moon, was the cosmic creature I summoned for Astronox this year!! @astronoxevents is always such a magical experience. I get inspired creating around so many other insanely skilled artists in attendance, reconnect with festival goers who’ve been in past years, and connect with many friendly loving new people (and Phantoes the cat who I only got video of). Bruh, I got to see Juno Reactor… twice. Younger me was… I don’t even know how to describe what this was like for my younger self, but it was frikkin cool.

Quick 2-day portal opening at @lustre_pearl_east last Friday and Saturday. I call this piece Wisteria Moon, inspired by our local springs and Texas native plants (wisteria, juniper, lantana, fanwort). The moon was done in the same tones I’d use to color a pearl because what is a moon if not an illustrious pearl in the sky. Honestly, this is the first time I had the chance to paint virgin cinderblock and I was stoked on the opportunity to do a breakthrough wall, so I wanted to do something that spoke to my prettier, more surreal art style. Bringing the peaceful, mystical vibes to the patio peeps.

Endlessly grateful to have opportunities to get up on big walls with my @ftkatx ladies. Here’s the time lapse from our most recent prodo at @paintlouisofficial !! I’ll have the extended video + festival recap up on YouTube later this week.

This Greek mythology production was led by @taylordpaints ! Again on the wall we had @winkstyles001 @l.rhae @taylordpaints @k4rm_44 and meeee!!! It was a 60+ft long by 16ft high wall that we spent three days painting (plus an hour and a half getting our base coat down on Thursday).
.
Had some really fun memories again at @paintlouisofficial this year. Unfortunately, we were so busy that I didn’t have as much time this year to check out the other parts of the wall! Being up on that ladder for such an extended time really wrecked my legs/ankles/feet up and it took almost a full week for the swelling to return to normal, so walking around in between painting wasn’t really an option. I am so proud of all these hard working ladies and what we did together!!

What a whirlwind weekend with my @ftkatx homies out at @paintlouisofficial !! We put up this amazing Ancient Greece themed production! It was a lot of hard work but I am so proud of us: @k4rm_44 @taylordpaints @l.rhae @winkstyles001 !! It’s so cool to have friends who are down to travel across state lines to absolutely bust our asses for three days in the heat to create something amazing together!! It was super fun getting to caravan and make smol mischiefs on our way up with @k4rm_44 and @eye_loves_you .

My centaur character was based off the centaurs in Fantasia, but done in my style. This was a movie that my sister and I loved growing up so it felt appropriate for this Ancient Greece themed production. I also designed the @ftkatx column with @taylordpaints help on color matching to tie it in.

You know I’ve got the whole thing on time lapse, too!! I am just super exhausted and need to catch up on my other work, but you’ll see that in a few days.

Bricks also have an important place in pride month history and match the exterior mural at Top Drawer (painted by @hardshapes ).

Big thanks to @l.rhae for organizing this amazing pride-themed jam and getting the @ftkatx crew and homies together to give back to a business that gives so much to the queer community!! Not to mention, with where my headspace has been lately, it was really nice to catch up with everyone and work through some of those feelings on the wall. New headshots launching soon from the gorgeous and amazing @dirtandglittermt / @denalireese . Just got the final gallery yesterday. 🤩 I haven’t gotten new promo shots in 3 years and I’m so excited to start updating everything once I figure out which ones I am picking!! (It’s hard with how good they all are!!)

She sent me so many shots to choose from, sent phone video clips and photos, set up and coordinated all the props on set, and had her friend @girl_in_the_docsphotography come out to be the second shooter (who also got some phenomenal shots). So much bang for my buck! It was honestly so affordable and I couldn’t recommend her studio more. So serendipitous to have met her back when she lived in Austin and remained friends with her for years as we both grew our small businesses!

We had so, so much fun together during the shoot and with @massagebykristenatx when she came out. I love being around women lifting each other up and putting each other on. We all thrive together!! Big, big thanks to @delilahsfrontporch for letting us take over your space and to Joe and Steven for helping move furniture around to make the set extra cute. So much love for y’all.

Did you hear? 🐸🧺 Fresh Frogs’ Taco Picnic just dropped at @eltacorrido !!

This was a pride month concept that I painted at this same spot three years ago, which I resurrected a couple of weekends ago. Shoutout to the person who drove by telling me they reminded them of Frog and Toad and asking if they were lesbians before I even added the flower crown. I love frogs because they are great androgynous characters, a theme close to my own heart. The perceived gender of many of my characters is entirely up to the interpretation of the viewer. They are putting on native species on display with a spotted chorus frog and green tree frog amongst fire wheels!
.
When I first painted this concept, I didn’t have the can control to outline it, my perspective and texturing skills weren’t as solid, and dang it these ones just turned out so much cuter. Following that first iteration, the last frog characters I did here were a couple of presh lil strawberry poison dart frogs based off me and @l.rhae and they rode for a solid couple of years. They were cute, but small and I still wasn’t ready for the line work at that point. I’m happy with my latest addition to this wall and proud of how much I’ve grown painting in this space since 2020.
.
I also wasn’t throwing letters last time I painted here. I felt like I was taking up too much space… but it was the same amount of space as the person before me, and I wasn’t going to leave my characters half over someone’s piece like that so why not just put a lil piece up? Okay I know it’s a sickness… I can’t stop writing Frawg on shit. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s been a big year and I’ve done a lot of work since my finalist run last year. Grateful for all the adventures with the @ftkatx crew and beyond that I’ve experienced so far. I love this life and I am so grateful to be able to create joy for people across the state and outside of it through my artwork.

Again this year I am up against some truly phenomenal talent including the amazing 3rd year champ @zuzubee, @rexhamiltonart, @_esquivel and @jiminai who all deserve a win, but, as I said last year, this is my page so VOTE FOR MEEEE. If I win just one year, I’ll campaign for someone else to get it the next year because there are so many amazing muralists in Austin who deserve the recognition!
