Art Duel at Texas Arts & Music Fest 2022

On October 16th, I was grateful to be invited to participate in the Art Duel at the 2022 Texas Arts & Music Fest. Hosted by Something Cool Studios, the Art Duel pit six talented artists against each other in an epic battle.

The first round of battles were 1v1, pairing up each of the six competitors. I was up against the prolific wheat paste artist TVHead. In 1 hour on my 8’x8′ wall, I painted a cowboy toad playing a little guitar on a sunflower leaf. The audience loved it and I was victorious in the first round.

The final round later in the day had all six competitors, ULOANG, Sire, Jair, Ulys, TVHead and myself, against each other in a head-to-head. Inspired by some of the fall decor around the Brenham town square, I painted a frog and tadpole pair posed for a photo. We had 1 hour and 15 minutes to knock out our 8’x8′ wall this time and the extra 15 minutes gave me time to get full coverage.

Jair walked away with the grand prize with his beautifully colorful portrait of Taylor Swift. TVHead got second place with his wheat paste inspired by Brenham’s own Blue Bell ice cream. He got some kids in the crowd involved throwing paint at his wall, which the audience loved!

All-in-all it was a super fun day of competitive speed painting with my pals.
